His Grace Bishop Macarie Drăgoi of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Northern Europe participated on May 6, 2018, at the Pedaling for Life bicycle march, organized by the Youth Center “St. Stephen the Great” (CSTM). The charity action took place after the celebration of the Holy Liturgy in the church of the Romanian Orthodox Parish in Göteborg. Earlier, the young prayed in front of the icon of the Holy Mother of God the Inexhaustible Chalice for guidance.

The aim of the bicycle march is that, for each pedestrian kilometer, a certain amount of money will be donated to the orphan children of Copsa Mica – Romania, which the Diocese supports in several philanthropic projects. At the same time, the acquisition of bicycles for orphan children from Copsa Mica has began.

His Grace Bishop Macarie has been among the young cyclists blessing the charity. The Romanian hierarch said:

“It is written in the Gospel: “He who does not gather with Me scatters “(Luke 11: 23) and that ” apart from me you can do nothing” (15:5). And the Apostle Paul teaches that “whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). So everything that happens must have meaning, make sense, all that we do is to the glory of God, and the lifting of our neighbor, even when we pedal … for the Lord and for the brother to do it, because we must be faithful in both the small and the great ones. will be done willingly, with the freshness and enthusiasm of youth, but it will also be done with the conscience and thought of our younger brothers, the poorer and the most deprived, who have no chance to enjoy ourselves, who can not buy a bicycle for themselves. Let us therefore make the gift of this day also become a gift for our younger and poorer brothers!” said the Romanian Orthodox hierarch of Northern Europe.
